A new energy vehicle charger is actually a device used to recharge electric vehicles. Its function is similar to that of a mobile phone charger, only with higher power and different interfaces.

There are currently two common types of chargers: AC slow charging and DC fast charging.

Slow charging has low power, usually around 7 kilowatts, and it takes 6 to 8 hours to fully charge an ordinary tram, making it suitable for slow charging at home at night.

Fast charging has high power, 60 kW, 120 kW or even higher, and can charge up to about 80% in half an hour. It is suitable for long-distance use in high-speed service areas.

In terms of installation, if there is a fixed parking space, you can apply to install a private charger. The process is not complicated: first communicate with the property management, then contact the power supply company to install the electricity meter, and finally find a qualified electrician to install it.

In terms of cost, a 7-kilowatt charger plus installation fee of 2000 to 4000 yuan is quite common. Public chargers are distributed in shopping malls, office buildings, and hotel parking lots, and can be found through mobile apps or mini programs.

There are several points to note when using a charger.

Firstly, check the gun head for any foreign objects or water stains before charging;

The second is to hold down the button when pulling out the gun and wait for the charging to stop before pulling it out;

Thirdly, try not to forcefully unplug during the charging process.

In addition, the charging speed may slow down during low temperatures in winter, which is determined by the characteristics of the battery and not a device issue.

In terms of cost, public chargers usually range from 1.2 yuan to 1.8 yuan per kilowatt hour plus service fee. In contrast, during the off peak period of household residential electricity charging, it may only cost 0.3 to 0.5 yuan per kilowatt hour. Although fast charging saves time, if conditions permit, using slow charging more is more friendly to battery life.

The new energy vehicle charger industry is still developing, and there are indeed some problems at present, such as insufficient power capacity in old residential areas to install piles, queuing in high-speed service areas during holidays, and the incompatibility of apps from different brands. These issues are slowly being resolved, but it will take time.
