New Energy Vehicle Charger - Basic Matching and Practical Knowledge for Daily Use

With the popularization of new energy vehicles, chargers have become an indispensable supporting facility for daily travel. At present, chargers are mainly divided into two categories: household slow charging and public fast charging. These two types of chargers are suitable for different driving scenarios, and mastering basic usage knowledge can make driving more worry free and better protect vehicle batteries.

Home slow charging is mostly 7 kilowatts of power, commonly installed in private parking spaces in residential areas, and is the main charging method for most car owners. This charging method has a gentle speed, can fully charge overnight, and causes minimal loss to lithium batteries, making it suitable for daily commuting and energy replenishment. The electricity price is lower during the low valley period at night, and long-term use can effectively save vehicle costs, making it the best choice for battery maintenance. The only limitation is the reliance on fixed parking spaces, and many old residential areas are temporarily unable to install in bulk due to site and route issues.

Public fast charging is distributed in shopping malls, highway service areas, and roadside parking lots, focusing on emergency and long-distance energy replenishment. Fast charging has high power and can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in about half an hour, greatly reducing waiting time and solving travel range anxiety. However, fast charging relies on high voltage current charging, and frequent use will slightly reduce battery life. It is only suitable for temporary recharging and is not recommended as the main daily charging method.

The coverage rate of chargers continues to improve, but there are still many problems in daily use. Some public new energy vehicle chargers have equipment malfunctions, fuel vehicles occupying space, and queuing during peak hours. At the same time, fast charging prices fluctuate greatly, and the cost of charging during peak hours is relatively high. In addition, many car owners have charging misconceptions, such as completely draining the battery before recharging, and not pulling out the gun for a long time after being fully charged, which can accelerate battery aging.

Daily car use only needs to follow simple principles: prioritize home slow charging for daily commuting, and keep the battery level in the range of 20% to 80%; Emergency use of public new energy vehicle chargers for long-distance travel. Before charging, check if the gun head is intact and free of foreign objects. Avoid outdoor charging during thunderstorms as much as possible to ensure charging safety and extend the service life of the battery and charger.
